Routine correspondence between local officials and the Comptroller, 1966-1973.

Salaries of local district attorneys, supernumerary district attorneys, circuit solicitors, and public defenders are paid by the state in the same way as other state employees. (Ala. Code, 12-17-182 [1975]; Ala. Code 12-17-215 [1975]). Local boards of registrars are also paid by the state (Ala. Code, 17-4-43 [1975]). This correspondence consists of letters from local officials notifying the comptroller of hiring of individuals, of their separation from job, queries about expenses, inquires on salary discrepancies, and other routine financial matters. A few of the letters have W-4 forms attached to them.
